About Recruitment
Emergency services are receiving increasing volumes of calls for individuals presenting with acute mental health issues in the community. A significant proportion of emergency services resource is being used to support individuals struggling with their mental health, who often present with complex issues that require further assessment and ongoing support by a mental health professional.
Based in the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) 999 emergency operations call centre, the Mental Health Urgent Triage (MHUT) Team provides timely access to relevant all-age patient information for Greater Manchester residents across the Service Providers’ areas which shall include CAMHS, learning disabilities and older people.
For the MHUT Navigator role, four VCSE organisations have come together to deliver the MHUT VCSE service within the 999-emergency operations centre. Our aim is to combine expertise, capacity, and local insight to deliver outstanding outcomes for people and communities. Successful candidates will be part of a multi agency team alongside NHS Mental Health Trust colleagues, Greater Manchester Police and NWAS.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Work as an integral part of the MHUT team to deliver services directly to members of our community.
• Working with clients who present in crisis, including supporting with de-escalation of crisis & risk management.
• Responsible for implementation of policies for own work area and proposing policy or service changes which impact beyond own area of activity.
• Work alongside other staff and volunteers to ensure members of our community can access the services they need.
• Working in partnership with other services. Specifically for this role, you will work alongside Pennine Trust, GMMH Trust, GMP and NWAS
• Work collaboratively with practitioners on shift to make decisions according to good clinical practice to ensure the safety of people accessing services and help identify areas for improvement.
• Safely escalate concerns to practitioners on shift in line with agreed escalation and incident reporting procedures.
• Using telephone systems to provide telephone support, de-escalation and risk management, and onward signposting.
Communication and Working Relationship Skills
• Provide complex and sensitive information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (users of services, carers, multi-disciplinary staff, and other statutory / non statutory services).
• Contribute to the safe and effective day to day operations of the service, managing clinical enquires.
• Provide a high standard of written and verbal communication that is clear and in line with local guidance.
• Role model effective communication: demonstrating empathy, respect, compassion and hope where there may be barriers to understanding.
• Communicate information in a way that makes it relevant and understandable in line with operational guidance.
• Maintain professional relationships with all VCSE and NHS colleagues to ensure professional standards are met.
• Promote a culture that incorporates employing organisational values and is recovery focused.

Children and Young People Bereavement Therapist
Accountable to: Head of Therapy
Reporting to: CYP Therapy Coordinator
Location: Community based role working predominantly in schools in Manchester and Salford with some homeworking. Our central office base is Green Fish Resource Centre, 46-50 Oldham Street, Manchester. M4 5LE
Salary: £11,522.11 (pro rata equivalent of £27,812.00)
Hours: 14.5 hours per week

Job Purpose
To work as a member of Gaddum Therapeutic Services which includes Counsellors, Social Workers, Art Therapists, and Play Therapists.
To provide therapeutic support to CYP who have become stuck in their grieving process following a bereavement of a significant person. This will include one to one work and occasional group work which will usually take place at the child’s school, community venue or remotely via telephone or online video.
To offer advice and guidance to professionals and carers who contact us following a child’s complex bereavement. Effective working relationships with parents, carers and other professionals will be a crucial element of the role.
Main Duties
– To be accountable to the CYP Therapy Coordinator.
– Act as an initial point of contact for family members and professionals considering a referral to the service or requesting advice and guidance.
– Provide support in the grieving process, offering advice, making an initial assessment of need and signposting to other services where appropriate.
– Following assessment, offer therapeutic intervention to CYP, supporting their adjustment to loss and building resilience. Interventions should meet the assessed needs of each individual.
– Ensure all involved with the CYP understand the complexities of a bereavement, including those experienced as a result of trauma.
– Maintain case records, monitor and evaluate your work in line with the organisation’s processes and protocols.
– Undertake regular reviews with family members and other professionals as appropriate.
– Ensure effective multiagency working with other professionals.
– Work to Gaddum’s policies and procedures.
– Ensure Safeguarding procedures are carried out in line with relevant legislation and Local Authority requirements.
All staff are expected to work within all Gaddum policies and procedures. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check with a children’s barred list check.

Children and Young People’s Therapy
Gaddum’s bereavement services provide therapeutic support to children and young people who have suffered a bereavement in Salford and Manchester area.
As a Bereavement Therapist, you will work with anyone who’s lost someone close to them and they’re finding it difficult to cope with the upsetting emotions that come up when we experience a death of a family member or friend.
Our Therapists offer one-to-one therapeutic, child centred sessions in schools and community venues. Moreover, we provide psychoeducation sessions to parents / carers when requited.
Adult Therapy
Gaddum Talking Therapies is an NHS funded therapy service for people with a common mental health difficulty, like anxiety or depression (formerly known as IAPT).
We offer a range of one-to-one therapy including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), person-centred counselling, integrative therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) therapy as part of this programme.
As a Therapeutic Counsellor in this service, you will join a diverse team of part-time therapists responsible for delivering time-limited therapy sessions to adults in the City of Manchester.
