Closure of Papyrus: a UK charity for the prevention of suicide in young people

We are deeply saddened to hear of the closure of Papyrus, a charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide in young people. For almost 30 years, the charity provided life-saving support services to young people, their families and concerned others across the UK.

The loss of such an important organisation will be felt by many, including young people, their families and peers, and across the wider mental health sector. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this news, particularly young people who have accessed Papyrus’s services, and the many dedicated staff and volunteers. The closure of Papyrus is a stark reminder of the importance of sustained investment in mental health and suicide prevention services, and the vital role these organisations play in saving lives and supporting families.
