Why Gaddum is leaving X (formerly Twitter)

13th October 2025

HomeNewsWhy Gaddum is leaving X (formerly Twitter)

At Gaddum, our values guide every decision we make.

We are committed to:

  • Being Heard – listening with openness and respect
  • Collaborative Curiosity – working with others to explore new possibilities
  • Meaningful Connection – valuing every individual as a whole person
  • Purposeful Work – focusing on actions that truly matter
  • Thoughtful Safe Services – creating trust through safe, high-quality practice.

The social media platform X no longer aligns with these values. We have made the decision to delete Gaddum’s X profile, effective immediately.

Recently, there has been a rise in homophobic, transphobic and racist language on X, alongside increased hate speech, misinformation and a failure of X to address some of the most extremist and harmful ideological propaganda that are impacting our communities.

This directly conflicts with our commitment to inclusivity, empathy and respect.

Finally, the tragic and horrific attack on Greater Manchester’s Jewish Community on Thursday 2nd October 2025 was, for Gaddum, the point where we took the difficult decision with withdraw from the platform.

We made this decision not only because engaging with the X platform no longer helps us meet the needs of our beneficiaries, but also because we have a duty of care to employees, volunteers, and students to ensure they aren’t subjected to any form of harm during the course of their duties with Gaddum.

Remaining active on X risks undermining the safe, inclusive spaces we work hard to build. By leaving the platform, we are protecting both our community and brand reputation, ensuring our online presence stays true to our values.

We will continue to share updates and resources on our website and through our other social media channels.

You can continue to follow us on our other social channels:

Thank you for standing with us in creating safe, inclusive online spaces for everyone.
