Lived experience from the Co-chair of the GMMH Complex Emotional Relational Needs (CERN) Best Practice Group
One of our lived experience contributors has played an integral part in improving how individuals with Complex Emotional & Relational Needs are supported.
This is what he had to say about his work with us here at Gaddum…
“Joining Gaddum’s Coproduction Team as a LE (Lived Experience) representative has been a great experience for me.
I am a Lived Experience Co-chair and I sit on the GMMH Complex Emotional Relational Needs (CERN) Best Practice Group, and I can honestly say that I am genuinely a colleague on this team. I am treated with great respect.
CERN was formerly known as a Personality Disorder and there are many misconceptions and assumptions made about people living with CERN. People are too often labelled as being difficult or manipulative and it’s just not the case.
I have had the opportunity to work collaboratively with GMMH Complex Emotional Relational Needs (CERN) Best Practice Group to produce a CERN Best Practice Policy. This was a significant piece of work that was 12 months in the making, and I have to say I am very proud of it.
This policy is available to GMMH staff and GM Police 24/7, 365 days. The aim of this policy is to ensure that people with CERN are offered appropriate care and support in settings like A&E to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and stress.”
We have upcoming opportunities for other lived experience contributors including CERN.
