What is peer advocacy?
Who is this service for?
The peer advocacy project supports people who, due to their mental health needs, may find it difficult to speak up on their own, know where to get help or understand what their rights are.
Who can access it?
Please note that this is a pilot scheme that is currently only able to support people who are stepping down from working with a statutory Advocate.
My Peer Advocacy Project supports people who may find it difficult to speak up on their own, know where to get help or understand their rights due to mental health needs.
Volunteer Peer Advocates use their knowledge and lived experiences of mental health to work in partnership with the person. They provide 1:1 support with issues and tasks they struggle to do on their own.
I carefully match my Peer Advocates to people based on their skill set, and that work to empower, build confidence and achieve agreed outcomes and goals.
